Spray Paint Wedding Favors Without Residue?

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I am interested in making hand fans for an upcoming wedding.
I have tongue depressors that I am using for the handle. I want to spray paint these wood sticks to match the wedding color. However, I want to ensure that there is no residue. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can complete the task so that it isn’t tacky (no paint bubbles, etc.) and that everyone who touches the fan doesn’t have paint residue on their fingers? I am not sure if I should spray paint them while laying them on cardboard, etc… Please help. Thanks in advance.

USE AN OIL SPRAY PAINT OR SPRAY A SECOND COAT OF CLEAR ON IT YOU CAN GET IT AT HOME DEPOT OR THAT OTHER PLACE

Use a coat of spray primer, sand each lightly, then spray with the white spray paint. Use oil based instead of acrylic and it should not come off on anyone’s hands. You are probably better off laying them on cardboard and spraying them outside (weather permitting) because the spray paint fumes can be quite strong but will go away when they dry.

place ‘td’ s on dowls to get them up. light coats of paint are better than one heavy one. let paint dry between coats..start spray paint off to the side, and come across..so as to not get blobs…and as gramma use to say,, hold your mouth right…
