I want something simple, elegant, and inexpensive… and if there is anything that involves firetrucks or something of the sort that would be great also!!!!

elegant and cheap? wow you don’t ask for much there do you? seriously skip the dust catchers – people don’t want them…when was the last time you picked up that mini bell saying “wow – I’m going to put this in my hutch!” we found little mesh drawstring bags at hobby lobby and filled them with m&m’s in the 3 wedding colors (navy, hunter, burgundy). you can buy the special colors at colorworks stations or online. aparently the big joke was my dad filled his bag with all green ones and gave it to my mom with a big smile!
you can also try searching for “editible wedding favors” – get your mind out of the gutter – my friend just got little personalized mint tins for her wedding and bonus the mints are really good.
    good luck and congrats

The most elegant thing, in my book, is to skip the favors entirely.
I have a drawer full of single placecard holders, odd little frames, christmas ornaments, mongrammed shot glasses, and other stuff. What the heck do you do with that stuff? Seems like bad luck to throw it out.

I’m 100% in agreement that favors should be edible (I don’t keep the keepsakes – they’re clutter).
I found (pretty quickly) a shop that makes chocolate firetruck shaped lollipops for $1 each. I bet you could find even nicer versions with a little sleuthing.http://www.conversationpieces.org/2049.h…

Hi. I know people are going to get sick and tired of me….but really…..skip the favors!! “Elegant” and “inexpensive” really don’t go in the same sentence.
The only favor I have ever used was a small picture frame (a nice one, though – not cheap).
Some candy (Hershey Kisses) or mints in a little mesh bag are fine if you REALLY think you need something.
Otherwise, as others have said….go to orientaltradingcompany.com
    Good luck!

I don’t know alot about wedding favors, but I did see some really cute tins that you could put candy in. Try http://www.theknot.com. They had little vases, pic frames, bookmarks.. all kinds of stuff and they’re having a sale right now.

This is something my son and his bride are considering. This is a great price for a set of two. They would separate them and put a photo of themselves with the date of their wedding under the glass and tie it with a ribbon the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses. I also heard of someone who bought these and put the names of each of the guests on them instead of a photo and placed them in the center of each plate.
Another fun option is to purchase small vellum or gauze bags or small clear candy boxes and put these in them:http://www.mymms.com/

Well I wouldn’t call this elegant but simple and inexpensive!
Sugar cookies, cut out in the shape of a fire truck or a fire engine and decorated with red and white frosting. I am a firefighter and this is a favor I made for one of my department members weddings, it was fun and very cheap to do!
