How Would You Rate Wedding Gowns Made-to-order From China? Is The Quality Acceptable?
My friend is considering having her gown made in China because the cost is reasonable compared to having one made by local designers. Does anybody have an experience to share regarding this?

I considered that option as well. It’s very tempting because of the inexpensive pricing. However, I decided against it because doing so is probably patronizing a sweat shop. My conscience could not rest easy if I suspected that.
Well, i think that would be hard because you arent right there with the person who is going to make the dress to make everything she wants clear.
No experience at it, but I wanted to say that I think it might be fine. I’ve seenn the Lily wedding site and am quite impressed with their low prices for a “made to measure” gown.
I’m sure that foreign seamstresses do a fine job, and the TRUTH is that even the highest end designers here in the U.S. will contract out sewing to China and other countries for cheap labor. So why not pay these people directly? they probably get paid better.
the quality will not be the same . . from the fabic to the workmanship . . compare retail clothing made in china to retail clothing made in America there is a difference . . for a gown only to ge worn once for a short time it could be acceptible but I wouldn’t expect to hand the gown down to the next generation . .
E bay has several listings for made to order gowns from lots of other countries and you can see how people have rated them.
first of all, it would be hard to inform the tailor there the exact design of the dress you want. and secondly, measurement taken by your friend might not be same measurement required by the tailor. so what if the dress don’t fit? she will send it back to china again?
