I would buy a cake stencil or other type of stencil and play with color to dress up the boxes. I think Martha Stewart has some stencils in her Michaels craft store and Wal Mart product lines. Stamps is a good idea. But, you could also buy a cut out stamp that would cut shapes into the box. That way if you had colored tissue paper inside, you’d be able to see the color through the cut out. You can get them in tons of different items. We are using a leaf cut out for our invitation envelopes so you can see the colored paper we used to line them. :)

I would get the velum stickers made for printing on at a Michael’s or JoAnns or any craft store near you and print up labels to go on each side or two side. Perhaps a circular sticker with your monogram and the date on the other side. The circle would be good for not only the Asian Fusion aspect, but the contract of the square geometric shapes with the circle would be great. The sticker sheets are sold in packages of three or four sheets (maybe ten) and you could print them from home.
    Good luck!

You could write your new last name or initial(s) on the boxes in Mandarin (or whatever language). Use this website to generate the proper text http://chineseculture.about.com/library/…
Or you can print a love poem and use a typeface with an Asian flair either directly on the box or print on nice paper, cut out and glue on the box.
Another thought is glue ribbon in your wedding colors around the bottom & top of the box. Or you can make a little bow w/ the ribbon and tie it at the top of the box.
I’m not sure if you can find them, but you might consider getting some Asian inspired scrapbook stickers and papers. You can come up with a design fairly easy I’m sure. Craft stores would be the best place to check for such things, although Target & Wal-Mart have scrapbook sections as well.

Ooo! Oooh! oohhh!!! Stamps!!! Stamps are super easy and you can put them all over the box. Try to find stamps with the chinese characters of love in different sizes and stamp them in red and gold. (Wait till each dries so you don’t mix the colors!) Then if you want to be really creative and have a good steady hand, you can put on the sides in nice handwriting, your names and wedding dates and you can use a paint pen for a nice effect.

We’re using the same boxes for our wedding favors :) Only it’s not an asian fusion wedding … we just liked them a lot.
We’re putting little stickers or tags on them with our initials in our colors.
Here are some pictures to help you get started:http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl=…

Okay I’m going to put a hypothetical here.
Your colours are red and black. Paint the boxes red and put black markings on them. Maybe some kind of asian symbol for love, fidelity, marriage etc etc.
Say your colours are brown and orange, do them orange and use brown markings etc.
I think you get the point now. lol.
I think that would be really cool if you are artsy enough to do it!

    You could try some stamps!
You can find REALLY cool stamps with your initials, or a picture that you like and you can get ink in ALL different colors including metallics. AND the best part is it’s pretty cheap to do, with a classy result! You can add ribbons or a sprig of a flower, as well if you want.
Go to a Hobby Lobby or Michael’s or even shoot for stamps on e-bay! Good Luck! CONGRATS!

You need to add some pizazz to them by incorporating your wedding colors into the boxes. Maybe add some ribbon that has a little asian flair.
