How Much (ballpark Or Range) Does It Cost To Have A Seamstress Make A Wedding Dress From A Pattern?
Anyone had their wedding dress made? Not by a designer, but by a seamstress provided with a pattern? Would love to get an idea of the typical price.

I talked to a few at bridal shows and the lowest of price I could find for a simple design with no bead work or anything fancy was $600 then it went up for every little thing you wanted from there. I would think you are looking around 2k for a “typical” wedding gown. I think it will differ greatly depending on what you want done, how much fabric and time it will take, and where you live….Try a few bridal shows in your area or google seamstresses in your city. The only thing you can do is take them the pattern and ask. Make sure to also ask to see a portfolio of other gowns they have done so you know they are decent.
provided with a pattern doesn’t help. you still have to make the muslin mock-up, adjust the pattern, drape again, make adjustments, then make the official pattern. Tha’t the hard part. The dress construction is easy from there.
edited to add: the last dress i did it took all day saturday and most of sunday afternoon just to get the pattern made. 8 hours plus 6 hours. 14 hours at 25 an hour. $350 just for the pattern fitted. I did this as a courtesy to a friend.

i charge 25 an hour. i refuse to sew slippery fabrics. back the slippery fabrics with muslin lining for support and strength and so they will go through the machine. honestly, most dresses are handsewn anyway, except for the long seams.
I had a very simple grad dress made and it cost me $250 Canadian. Your best bet is to go to a seamstress and show them your pictures and fabrics in mind and they can give you an estimate. I want my wedding dress designed by me too one day!
Many seamstresses charge by the pattern piece. So it’s $X times number of pattern pieces.
Call a few seamstresses and ask, count your pattern pieces, and then ask about working with expensive bridal fabric. That might be an extra charge.
