I personally like silver or white gold rings, but for some reason when I think of getting married I always picture gold wedding rings. What do you think?

White gold is just a current fad. You think of yellow gold wedding rings because they are classic and timeless – it’s gold in its natural shade, and is one of the oldest metals. It’s been used through history and many cultures.
I prefer yellow gold, and the rings my husband chose for me are yellow gold. I also think diamonds sparkle the brightest against it.

I guess yellow gold is more traditional than white gold. But it depends on the style of the ring which looks better. My ring is really blingy and would have looked aweful with yellow gold. It would have made it look really gaudy. But the white gold tones it down nicely. I do like yellow gold with some solitaires though.

Over the last 20 years or so, silver colored rings and jewelry have become more acceptable and almost more modern. We see our parents’ wedding sets and they are gold, so we often rebel against this and want silver instead.
I am firmly against white gold in wedding jewelry. The ring is a symbol of your love and white gold breaks down and wears out. Not a great metaphor. I prefer Platinum. It keeps it’s color eternally.

I too like white gold or even platinum wedding rings better. To me they just seem classier and look nicer with diamonds, and also I think, matches my clothing and other jewellery more. I don’t believe there is any special meaning to the different colours and kinds of metals though.

for my wedding ring i always wanted something simple like a white gold band with only three diamonds, one larger one in the middle, and one smaller one on each side…white gold/silver bands are much prettier to me…
