Once A Wedding Dress Is Picked Out, How Long Does It Take To Be
Ready For A Wedding?
I’ve heard that once you pick out your wedding dress, it will take over a year for it to be ready for your wedding day. Is that true? I plan on getting married next May, and my mother has told me if I don’t order my dress ASAP it won’t be ready for my wedding then. Is she right?

It all depends on the designer. My gown was from Demetrios and it took about 5 months to come in. My sister’s dress was from David’s Bridal and it came in a month. You can definitely start looking now but ask the store how long a dress normally takes to be delivered. Also, bear in mind that if you order a dress now you can’t gain or lose a significant amount of weight without having to go through expensive alterations.
It depends on where you get the dress from. The best way to know, is to talk to the retailer and see how long the dress takes to make and how long it will take to alter. My dress only took 30 days to make and 3 weeks to alter but I purchased it locally.
The first step is to go to the retailer and pick out a dress, then they can tell you the timeframe.
of course she is right. every dress is different, it depends on which supplier they are getting it from, which country and if it has to go on back order.
im in australia and my dress is coming from Europe and it takes 6 months!
My dress took about 4 months to get in. It just varies. But order NOW so you can have time to alter it and what not.
