How Long Before Wedding Dress Fabric Starts Loosing It’s Color?

My wedding is in June 2009 and I’m supposed to receive my dress in less than a month. I am afraid that in 6 month it may develop some yellow spots or something. Does any one know how long it takes to happen? Thank you.

DO NOT LET IT “AIR OUT”. ideally, see if you can keep it at the seamstress’. If this is not an option keep it in a garment bag in a closet that isn’t too overcrowded (maybe you can keep it in a spare room at your parents? his parents? grandma’s? etc). the dress will not yellow, yellowing comes from sun exposure sweat, white wine, etc. However, you need to protect it from these things before the wedding too! if you took a brand new dress and put it in a garment bag in the back of a closet, it should look just as white twenty years later. after you wear it, you need to have it preserved or it WILL yellow.

Unless there is something terribly wrong with the materials used to make your dress, you have nothing to worry about.
The best way to store a wedding dress is to fashion a muslin bag. Muslin is very inexpensive and you can find it at your local fabric store.
Your dress should come with loops inside the bodice for hanging. Make sure to use these. They reduce the stress that may occur on the skirt/bodice seam.
If the skirt of your dress is big ( one that has pickups or a long train) then consider hanging it up by the loops mentioned, but in a muslin bag resting on the floor. This will again reduce the stress on the seam.
Congrats and have a wonderful wedding.

I dont really see how, as long as you have it airing out somewhere where he cant see it, you should be fine, i received my dress 3 months ago and its still fine.
Just make sure you store it correctly.
    Good luck :)

The yellowing is caused by things like persperation, deorderant etc. I think your dress will be fine and if stored correctly dresses can last many many years.
