What Kind Of Wedding Favors Should We Give?

Monday, September 21, 2009
By weddingplan

My fiance and I don’t want to be cheap. Neither of us care for chocolate, so M&M’s are out. Is there anything that doesn’t scream tacky or cheapness that is a good wedding favor? None of our guests drink, so bar favors are out. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

One of the nicest favors I ever received was a demitasse set – a set of four espresso spoons. It was in a velveteen box with a little bow.
Another favor that I actually use, appreciate and think of the couple every time was a set of frosted glass coasters.
These arent the spoons exactly – the box was a lot classier and there were four: http://www.weddingfavorsemporium.com/dem…
    Here are the coasters: http://www.weddingsbydezign.com/coasterf…
By the way, anything edible (especially homemade) is tacky. Period. And no one cares what your favorite songs are.

something edible. Favors that are not edible is a waste of money people just throw them away after a while.

Why not just skip them and devote that money to things that really matter to guests — convenient time and location, good entertainment, delicious food. Since you’re not wealthy enough to give little diamond and gold trinkets from Cartier like The Beautiful People do, then why bother? In comparison, anything you can afford is tacky and cheap. Favors are just a Wedding Industry scam to get even more money out of you. For every person saying “Awww, isn’t that lovely” there are two thinking “Now I’m stuck with this darn peice of trash” so give it up. Anyone who thinks it’s odd or that something is missing is either trying to get you to buy stuff or is totally brainwashed by The Wedding Industry.

No chocolate? No liquor? Well that only leaves music. Make them all CDs with some of the songs you chose from the wedding.
The best wedding favor I ever got was a pint glass.

For my wedding, I did a few inexpensive gifts. I did almonds in little bags and glued some fake flowers on them, they came out very pretty. I also did candles in the same type of bags and glued the same type of flowers on them. And lastly I did books of matches that I had ordered from a catalog. Some other weddings Ive been to lately gave out little bottles of bubbles, personalized CD’s with their favorite music on them, personalized candy bars and the last wedding we attended had a buffet style table of all diffferent types of candys with personaized bags, people really loved that!

How about a solitary lucky bamboo in a cylinder vase?its inexpensive but a lasting gift
a single bamboo costs $1-2 and a small vase depending on where you get it can be around the same $1-4
maybe something totally fun like a water powered clock!!with a flower in it of course

none. instead of favors give your money to a charity and give each of your guests a card stating that in lieu of favors you honored the heart and stroke foundation, [or whichever charity you choose] with a donation! you will find that most people don’t care for favors and will be most impressed with your donation! btw – the donation is also tax deductible at year-end so the charity benefits, you benefit and your guests will tell everyone about your generosity!
    happy wedding!

For my wedding my fiancee and I are making donations to the Jimmy Fund and giving everyone a piece of paper explaining a donation has be made ect. So many favors go to waste…giving money to charity isn’t a waste and we’ve both lost people we love to cancer so it’s really a great way to honor them.

Well my brother did he almonds and then he got white chocolate and melted it and used heart molds to create a heart shaped sweet then wrapped it and tied a ribbon. My all time fave for myself is chocolate pretzels yummy or you may do cookies in a heart shape if you like and put like 3 in a lil box or covered tulle becareful in transportation so they wont break good luck!

There are so many different wedding favors that you can choose from to give…and they don’t have to be the same old boring thing, or break the budget either.
I used this website, it has a bunch of great wedding favor ideas for nearly every occasion. Check out the wedding favors category – there is a lot of good information.

Anything edible is always appreciated by wedding guests.
Find something that goes along with your theme, for example, for a fall wedding you could have individually wrapped caramel/candied apples wrapped in celophane with a note attached saying Thank You. Another option is to have a candy bar. This could include any candy you & your fiance liked as a child, sweet candy, sour candy, chocolate (even if you don’t care for it, your guests will), and any other type of candy you like. Get the candy in your wedding colors & then provide some sort of container, bag, or box for the guests to put the candy in & take home as a favor.
