Where Can I Buy Craft Sand Suitable For Wedding Invitations In A Bottle?

By weddingplan

Hi! I am making my own wedding invitations and my theme is the beach. I am making invitations in a bottle and need to put sand in the bottom of the bottle with a few shells and than the invitation will be added in in the form of a scroll.
Does anyone know if someone sells bags of craft sand or somethinh similar somewhere?
Thanks for your help!

You will probably want very fine natural sand. The following online store sells Japanese Zen Garden sand:http://www.toport.com/diy_supplies.html
    Also try the following:
    1. Hobby Lobby
    2. Online stores:http://www.sandartsupplies.com/http://www.kidsserenity.com/kids/http://www.cmi-ny.com/index.phphttp://www.orientaltrading.com
    3. You could also try a local pet and aquarium store for natural sand.
    Good luck!

I know that Lowes sells play sand its usually by the concrete. Its clean sand for sand boxes. Its about 3.00$ a bag

Yep both answers are valid, you might even try JoAnn Fabrics craft dept.
The sand you speak of is dyed and it’s like “sugar sand”, to resist clumping from moisture. Certainly if you only need a single, natural color a Home Depot of Lowes also sells various types/grades of sand in larger quantities.

Silica sand would work well for this. It is inexpensive, It is a very fine white sand. Do were a dusk mask when working with any sand , especially the fine silica or craft sand. Any home center or lumber yard should have silica sand in 50 pound bags for less than ten dollars.

Hi!! I also recommend your local home depot or lowes. Check out “play sand” . It’s very cheap. We hosted a luau at work & this is what we used, it looked great. Hope this helps!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Go to your nearest home store. Home Depot, Menards and buy silica sand. It is a very fine white sand. It usually comes in a 50lb. bag and is only a few bucks. Good luck.
