You could start shopping now if you wanted to. Many brides shop 6-12 months before their wedding but I’ve seen some on here who already have their dresses and aren’t getting married until 2010.
I got mine in November and I’m getting married in August.

That depends. The earlier you shop for your gown the more outdated it will be by the time your wedding rolls around. They are always coming out with new styles and selections. I would wait until you have less than a year, maybe 6-9 months. Incase you need to order anything and have it altered. Doesn’t hurt to go look and find a style that works with your body type that you will like. So in the future it will be much easier. And it’s no pressure shopping. If you find something you absouletly like and it’s the one, you’ll know.

I bought mine in November and I’m not getting married until October! Just don’t buy a dress if you think better ones will be out there. My suggestion is to do some research, look online and get prices before committing!

not now, you are good. I am getting married in June and I got my dress last winter (about 1 1/2 years early) and they still sell it too but some places dont keep dresses that long so if you find the dress you love get it! just dont do alterations until closer to your wedding date (I was told to schedule mine for march for the first one).

Its never too early to shop for your gown. I am getting married the weekend before you and I have my gown ordered and it will be coming in in April. You should be fine looking for one and if you find the one you love get it, just make sure you keep your weight stable. I bought mine from Davids bridals and the people there said they can safely alter it down 2 sizes but don’t gain any weight. Its easier to take off fabric then adding it. Now if your bridesmaids dresses are very detailed in their style I would wait till about 6-8 months before. You also have to keep in mind that most dresses take about 6-8 weeks to order if you don’t buy them off the rack
Good luck in your hunt for a dress when you find the one you like DON’T look anymore. If you dont love it now you wont ever love it

I’d start shopping in May 2008. One year before the wedding is plenty of time.

as long as your weight is stable, it’s never too early. i had mine for almost a year and a half before my wedding. the wedding got pushed back due to venue issues, but nevertheless, still loved the dress on my wedding day.

you can go anytime there’s no such thing as too early, just too late. the only thing to remember tho, is that styles change. but i definately wouldn’t go any later than sept. or oct. 2008

Before you’re engaged. If you’ve got the ring you’re good to go!

Your wedding gown, depending on your designer and the amount of beading on the dress can take up to 9 months to a year, much less for a simple dress. Bridesmaids dresses usually should be ordered 4-6 months in advance, once again depending on their complexity. I am getting married end of July and ordered my dress last September. We are getting the bridesmaids dresses in a couple weeks. Good luck and best wishes!

Never. Shop as soon as you want and when you find the dress that gives you goosebumps and makes you feel like a bride purchase it. Once you’ve bought your gown stop shopping!
I would wait until about a month or two before the wedding to begin alterations. If you buy the gown months in advance your body will change and you dont’ want to have to pay for alterations twice or worse….take the dress in too small and then gain weight.

I would suggest that you start looking so you know what you want, but order something between September – November 2008. The earlier you order, the higher the chance is that measurements/circumstances/etc will change. Someone might lose weight, get pregnant, etc.

Its never too early. You should start shopping and looking around so you can get an idea of what kind of gown that you want. What style what budget etc.
The only thing is the size if you normally don’t go up or down a lot in size then I think you should be fine buying it anytime
